A historical reconstruction just for you!
2 April 2021

The air of the time and of the series is for reconstructions of Paris in 1900, whether it be with “Le bazar de la charité” or the plot of “Paris Police 1900”. Whether we like the style or not, our curious eye always delights in the details with which the decorators and dressers take us back to a past period. If you can’t be an extra or an actress.actor for these moments on the small screen, Mademoiselle Louison can arrange a tailor-made and private historical re-enactment for you.

Reconstruction of Paris 1900

A few months ago, many of us were touched by the sight of black and white animated images of Paris during the Belle Époque. It was a real treat to see the real life of the time without noise. The joy of historical documentaries is always touching and moving. Before our astonished eyes, real scenes unfold on the film of the amateur filmmaker.

An anthology of merrymakers from the Avenue de l’Opéra, the bustle of the carriages and double-decker omnibuses on Boulevard Haussmann, young children playing in the Bois de Boulogne, the elegant women and their refined clothes near the racetracks: one would like to pierce the screen to take part for a few moments in this « Back to 1900 ». Because the visual takes away the smells, the noises, the expressions of the time, the intonations, the touch of the materials, the visual contacts, the exchanges… all that makes the charm of the real whatever the period crossed. A historical reconstruction will always come as close as possible to the form but will very often fantasise about the content.

Historical idealism called Belle Époque

And the Belle Époque represents this idealised turning point in history. On the eve of the First World War, it was a hyperactive phase in which societies experienced incredible upheaval. Whether in the field of culture, technology, science or organisations, the Belle Époque symbolises years of progress and surprising changes. It was also a period of insouciance and positivism, especially in the big cities, where new ideas flourished in cabarets, artists’ studios, café terraces, lounges and promenades.

Of course, times were not so kind to all social classes, and spirits remember the pomp and circumstance of the more fortunate of the 1900s. We dream of ourselves as Toulouse-Lautrec at the Moulin Rouge painting La Goulue, we see ourselves decked out in those endless hats at tea time, we shudder at the thought of attending one of the demonstrations of the twirling Serpentine dance of Loïe Fuller or being an activist withHubertine Auclert. For my part, I would like to be on the benches of the Sorbonne and listen to one of Marie Curie‘s lectures. As with any historical re-enactment, everyone has their own dreamed idealized moment, more or less sweet of experiences.
